With a similar approach to the love of vinyl and playing out, Scotty and Shaun love nothing more than creating a set specific to the sound you require for your night. They play long vinyl sets of most styles of House music, from Downtempo Beats and Mellow House Grooves, to more upbeat House music and Funk’n'Soul
Scotty grew up in the mighty Boro in the North East of England, where he cut his DJ’ing teeth on Old School Electro Hip Hop in the early 80’s.
The mid 80’s introduced Scotty to Chicago House and Detroit Techno. The late 80’s/early 90’s brought him the joy of Happy Hardcore and Drum and Bass when the Rave scene hit the UK!
Moving to Pompey in the mid 90’s meant also moving on to a more gritty, underground scene of UK Garage, Tech House and Deep House. Working in a few bars and clubs, Scotty cemented his love of Dance Music, and steadily grew his vinyl collection.
In 2007, after migrating to NZ, Scotty soon found that there was a relatively small, underground scene of dance music in the Bay. After a break from playing out, he teamed up with Shaun and after a few random gigs here and there, they eventually got their shit together, and have carved out a niche in their local DJ scene.
Shaun grew up in NZ with a love of all things punk and indie.
After leaving NZ for the UK in 1988, Shaun found himself in the middle of the rise of the Baggy and Acid House scenes in Leeds. Attending underground clubs, dance parties and numerous gigs in the North of England opened his eyes and ears to the unlimited sounds and styles of electronica.
Over the years, Shaun has DJ’d in Dublin, London and NZ, as well as the world's shortest DJ set in Monaco (unappreciative owner - don’t ask!) and his style has grown to encompass all things house, often weaving its way through a soulful groove and into a deep, and when required, dirty house vibe.
Returning home in 2003 (leaving a dream job as a music buyer with HMV, Dublin) Shaun DJ'd private parties and events in Auckland. Then in 2006 he moved to the Bay, where he met Scotty who had a record collection that was worth investigating.
